Results of the consultations of the SSK Crisis Management Group on the consequences of the reactor accident at Fukushima
Statement by the German Commission on Radiological Protection
Adopted at the 249th meeting of the SSK on 14/15 July 2011
Abstract
On 15 March 2011 the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) convened the SSK Crisis Management Group to be consulted on the radiological situation in Japan and the resulting consequences for Germany. The results of the consultation have been included in the list of answers to urgent requests on the BMU website. A summary of all consultation results of the SSK Crisis Management Group on the consequences of the reactor accident at Fukushima relating to the period between 15 March and 11 May 2011 were noted with approval at the 249th session of the Commission on Radiological Protection on 14/15 July 2011.
The results of the consultations of the SSK Crisis Management Group are based on the information available at the time at which the recommendations and statements were issued and not on the information known in July 2011. The consultation results are inserted in the original version, precisely as they were worded by the SSK Crisis Management Group in answer to the requests they received from the BMU. The close cooperation between the BMU’s Emergency Task Force Organisation and the SSK Crisis Management Group explains why contextual information which is sometimes imprecisely worded in the texts were clear to all those concerned at the time when the questions were asked and the answers were supplied. To make the results of the consultations easier to read, the individual recommendations and statements have been arranged according to topics.
